The Past
The Old Grain Store purchased by William Coleman in 1851 has been a vital part of Strathalbyn's history. It hosted a variety of events, from fashionable balls and concerts to church services and community meetings. In the late 1860s, it even served as an office for the Southern Argus newspaper and the local library. Despite periods of inactivity and economic challenges, the building has stood the test of time. Today, it remains a cherished historical venue, continuing its legacy by hosting the annual Back Of The Truck event, celebrating Metala Estate’s heritage.
